Stay active and keep exploring with Atomic PT
Physical Therapy in Boulder and Broomfield
Atomic PT was founded in 2022 when Dr. Emma Stevenson returned to the United States after two years in London, where she co-founded Live ProACTIVE Ltd and continued building her expertise in sports medicine, orthopedics, and performance care. During that time, she worked as Lead Physical Therapist for the cast of Frozen in London’s West End through NEURO TOUR Limited.
Driven by a love for movement, performance, and the outdoors, Dr. Emma relocated to Boulder, Colorado to build a clinic designed specifically for active people. Atomic PT was created to serve runners, climbers, cyclists, skiers, and active adults looking for expert care that goes beyond traditional physical therapy. What started as a single clinic has quickly grown into a thriving performance-driven business rooted in the Boulder community.
In 2023, we launched Atomic Track Club, offering free weekly workouts for runners of all levels. The community has since grown to more than 300 members, becoming one of the largest running groups in Boulder.
In 2024, we expanded into Atomic Performance Coaching, bringing together physical therapy, nutrition, strength and conditioning, and run coaching to create a more complete support system for athletes and active adults pursuing ambitious goals.
In 2025, Atomic PT was honored with Best of Boulder – Best Physical Therapist. That same year, we launched our Race Team, a competitive amateur team now made up of 40 athletes.
Today, Atomic PT is a team of seven passionate professionals dedicated to helping people move better, perform better, and stay active doing what they love. Across our clinics, we have treated more than 1,500 clients across sports medicine, orthopedic care, neurological rehabilitation, pelvic health, and performance services.
We’ve loved becoming part of the Boulder community and growing alongside the athletes, families, and active individuals who trust us with their care.
And we’re only just getting started.

“I’m a ballerina with The Royal Ballet and have been treated by many physical therapists throughout my years. I’ve worked with Dr. Emma Stevenson in the past while I was recovering from an injury. Emma provided me with a comprehensive program of care and productive path to recovery. She took time to understand my profession and the level of fitness that was required. All of which led to a positive outcome. After my recovery, I had full confidence in my strength and was able to return to ballet full time. I am extremely grateful to her and could not recommend her enough!”
— Viola P. Ballerina
“I had a fantastic experience. I was hesitant to try physical therapy again after having many failed attempts before. I'm so glad I gave it another shot. I love trail running and hiking but have not been able to do it without pain for many years due to a stubborn foot problem. Dr. Emma not only took the time to listen to my concerns but tailor made my program to mimic the demands of trail running. Not only am I back to running, but I had a great time in my sessions getting back to where I needed to be. I 100% recommend Dr. Emma for any injury or pain you may have. It was worth every penny”.
— John M. Running and Hiking Enthusiast
“Dr. Emma was extremely knowledgeable and personable. I was experiencing low back pain that would never truly get better with previous treatments. Within weeks of working with Dr. Emma virtually I felt a noticeable improvement and eventually was pain free!! Most importantly though, I've been able to get back to working out and sleeping throughout the night again. Thanks for all of your hard work!”
— Ben B. Business Owner
“Emma has done a wonderful job getting me back in shape. With a combination of hands on work, good home exercises, and supervision during workouts, it's really the complete physical therapy package. While the reason for my visits was for shoulder pain, she volunteered to check out my hamstring after I had pulled it prior to one of my sessions. Thank you for all of your hard work.”
— Thad D. Dancer & Soccer Player
“Over the past decade, I have seen two doctors, two physical therapists, and two chiropractors for chronic pain in my lower back that regularly impacted both my fitness goals and my day-to-day life. None of them has ever been able to make significant progress in giving me tools to address my pain when it flairs - that is, until Dr. Stevenson. She is very knowledgeable, listens carefully, is willing to make adjustments when things aren't working, and doesn't try to make you continue sessions longer than you need. I particularly appreciated that she was able to do dry needling in house (something I'd never tried before, but found exceptionally effective). Overall, I cannot recommend Atomic PT enough, particularly for athletes, dancers, or just folks who want lift weights and work toward physical fitness.”
— Bethany W. Dancer
“Atomic PT is amazing! I have been to several PT's in my day and my experience with Dr. Emma was far and away the best. In the past, I had always been told to "stop" doing whatever activity was making my body hurt while I was being treated. But that was not the case here. Dr. Emma encouraged me to continue on with my physical pursuits while coming up with a treatment plan to supplement my regular training. This approach helped alleviate pain while also allowing me to stay on track to accomplish my goal. The personalized care I received was incredible and I am so thankful I chose to work with Atomic PT. Additionally, Dr. Emma seems very up to date with the ever changing landscape that is the health field. She would always sight research she had read when explaining why she was choosing to do something which made me even more confident in her approach. She also regularly publishes blogs which goes to show she is continually open to learning and adjusting her methods accordingly which I really appreciated. Thanks for all the help!!”

“I wish I reached out to Dr. Emma sooner! I'm usually hesitant to reach out to medical providers due to bad experiences in the past. I've had neck pain and headaches on and off for years and was never able to figure out how to fix it. Dr. Emma was extremely thorough in her evaluation of my symptoms and provided me with a comprehensive plan to address various factors that were impacting my condition - some things I never even thought about! She kept me accountable and motivated me to continue with my program and I can happliy say that my headaches and neck pain are a thing of the past!”

“Incredibly skilled, professional, efficient. Emma listens carefully to what you say and acts accordingly in a very professional manner. She knows what she’s doing and do it well. Manual therapy for my elbow tendinitis helped mitigate the pain, and the exercises she gave for my shoulder pain make a lot of sense. My favorite PT in Boulder, no doubt.”

"My experience with Dr. Emma was fantastic. I was performing on stage when I suffered a bad calf injury that made it difficult for me to walk. It was a very stressful situation and she immediately made me feel at ease. Within 2 weeks I was back on stage and have been feeling great ever since. I honestly cannot recommend her enough!"

“Emma is enormously empathetic and has this wonderful capacity to match energies to the people around her. She is a universal adaptor for energies. Because of this, she has gained a fast and strong reputation as someone who is dependable, and lovely, and altruistic. She is extremely knowledgeable, and humble. I have seen her personally manage, create plans for, and execute the rehabilitation programs for many of my fellow cast mates, some of whom have suffered incidents that have necessitated periods of time away from the job for recuperation. I wouldn't be the only one to firmly believe that Emma Stevenson's expertise has helped greatly accelerate their return to the extraordinary undertaking of performing in Frozen. I think that half of her job is the skill side, the techniques, the stretches and conditioning advice, the tapings and needling and heatpacks and massage guns and compression boots. The other (and more important half I think), is the mental health/empathetic/bedside manner side, and Emma's capacity for that is world class. In my experience it is exceedingly rare to find professionals who are not only experts in their fields, but who are also humble, and excellent at relationship management. Thank you Emma Stevenson for being your brilliant self!”

AND after a handfull of sessions incorporating the many tools of her trade, including dry needling, laser, and expert kinesio taping, but maybe Most Profoundly the specific & ongoing exercises to engage & strengthen supprting muscle groups, I have been able to return to pain free running culminating in a win of my Age group (by 21 minutes) at the 2023 Pikes Peak Ascent. I have Extreme Gratitude for the expert, conscience evaluation, expertise and success in treating me and learning that having arthritis is NOT a "death sentence" to running and activity!!!! The Joint dysfunction CAN improve and with the correct attention and commitment, the joint can function at a pain free & high level! Thank you Olivia”

“I was lucky to meet Olivia (Dr Olivia) as a guest PT at my Yoga studio. She was kind & helpful with information to guide me with expectations for dealing with my badly broken toe. I appreciated her approach, as she followed up w me via email, and offered options, that she could use, to help with my toe rehab if it wasn't healing. Olivia ended up helping me get back on my feet, and was very thorough in giving me necessary exercises that I was able to access through a portal. I would definitely recommend treatment from Dr. Olivia.”

Her system of exercises to pinpoint interior muscle strength along with the shock wave treatments were exactly what I needed to recover. Thanks to Dr. Emma I was healed in time for cycling season and I have had no pain! I would highly recommend her.”
— Karen C. Cyclist
“Emma is simply the best! Not only is she a genius at what she does, she is incredibly compassionate, thoughtful, and dedicated to her patients. I came to her with some unexplained issues and (with lots of patience) she worked with me to sleuth out possible answers and effective treatments. Her manual treatment gave me immediate relief, while the exercises she prescribed helped me strengthen muscles I didn't even know existed and continue to keep my pain in check. Knowing that I was about to start nursing school, Emma even walked me through the physiological basis for her treatments and explained muscle groups! Emma really goes above and beyond. I had to leave Boulder but would come back in a heartbeat to see her.”
— Hannah K. Fitness Enthusiast
“Can’t say enough good things about Atomic PT! Emma is incredibly knowledgeable and sets very realistic goals and expectations. It’s clear how much the team cares about each client and I’ve seen amazing results since I first started sessions. Highly recommend visiting the team and I will continue to return!”

Her unique background as a gymnast and athlete was so refreshing to be able to connect on a performing arts level and address my weaknesses as a performer. Definitely recommend!”
— Jessilyn G. Dancer
“Both Dr. Emma and Dr. Olivia are fantastic at what they do and clearly have a real passion for helping people. I was able to reduce the symptoms from a chronic issue I was told by so many doctors would never get better in a matter of months, and even addressed more issues popping up from being able to start new activities I never thought I could do before. I seriously cannot recommend Dr. Emma and her team at Atomic PT enough.”

“This is how PT should be done! I was 4 weeks out from a big trail race and had just started feeling tendonitis creep in on my achilles. Emma took her time to truly listen to me and my specific situation, then tailored a very strategic plan for getting me to race day and beyond. Her and Olivia worked their magic, the race went great, and the achilles is back to 100%. I can't recommend this team enough!”
— Austin L. Runner
“Emma created a comprehensive plan to help me with my persistent shoulder pain that was realistic for me and that fit into my daily activities/lifestyle, and I feel SO much better after just a few sessions. She is so insightful and you can tell she genuinely cares about helping you heal! Give Atomic a try if you’re looking for a PT!”
— Timmi W. Fitness Enthusiast
“Emma gets so much done in one session (dry needling, massage, reviewing old exercises, teaching new ones). Her detailed notes on the MedBridge app make it easy and fun to do the exercises. I also love that she can go over my form with the equipment at OneBoulder. Thankfully, I now have a strong association with doing PT at the gym so I consistently start with PT before my workout sessions! She got me back to hiking and rock climbing after just 4 weeks of PT for my MCL tear. Plan to see her proactively for dry needling and muscle imbalances to prevent injury in the future.”
