ATOMIC NEURO

Post Brain Tumor Resection

Recovery after brain tumor surgery can bring unique challenges, from weakness and balance issues to changes in coordination, vision, or speech. At Atomic Physical Therapy, we offer specialized post–brain tumor rehabilitation via Dr. Kathryn Bugasch, a certified neurological PT, to help restore movement, improve independence, and enhance quality of life.

Brain tumor resection can be life-saving, but the surgery and recovery process often affect mobility, balance, and daily function. You may experience weakness on one side of the body, difficulty walking, changes in coordination, or visual and sensory changes. Physical therapy plays a key role in addressing these challenges, retraining the brain and body to work together again, and helping you regain confidence in movement. At Atomic, our post–brain tumor rehabilitation programs in Boulder and Broomfield are customized to your abilities, goals, and stage of recovery. We combine evidence-based neurological techniques with strength training, balance work, and functional retraining so you can get back to the activities that matter most.

How Physical Therapy Helps After Brain Tumor Surgery

Following surgery, targeted rehab can improve mobility, restore balance, and help prevent secondary complications. We focus on neuroplasticity — the brain’s ability to form new connections — by using repetitive, purposeful movements to rebuild strength, coordination, and control. Our approach also helps reduce fatigue, improve endurance, and increase confidence in daily activities.

What Our Program Offers

  • A physical therapy session with a therapist and a patient. The therapist is observing as the patient performs a balance exercise on a marked grid on the floor, wearing a black shirt and shorts. The room has fitness equipment, a TV on the wall, and exercise balls and mats.

    1. Comprehensive Evaluation

We assess your strength, coordination, balance, gait, vision, and functional abilities to understand your starting point

  • A woman is performing a physical therapy assessment on a man in a therapy room. The woman is touching the man's head, possibly conducting a mobility or balance test, while the man stands straight. There is a banner for 'Atomic Physical Therapy' with images of climbing and workout activities, and various exercise equipment including a large exercise ball, resistance bands, and a rack with weights in the background.

    2. Personalized Goal Setting

Together we set clear goals, whether that’s walking independently, improving endurance, or returning to work or hobbies

  • People performing planks on balance discs at a gym, with a rock climbing wall and gym equipment in the background.

    3. Targeted Treatment Plan

Your program may include balance training, gait retraining, strengthening, vision exercises, and functional mobility work

  • A healthcare professional examining a male patient lying on a treatment table in a medical office with anatomical charts on the wall.

    4. Manual Therapy

We use joint mobilizations, dry needling, soft tissue work, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, and stretching to reduce stiffness, improve posture, and make movement easier

  • A person in black athletic clothing is standing on a black mat, juggling a black medicine ball with their hands, while a woman in casual clothing stands nearby, observing. The room has fitness equipment including a large blue exercise ball, foam rollers, and a TV mounted on the wall. There is a banner on the left side advertising TOMIC Physical Therapy.
