Hands-on manual therapy to release tension, break down restrictions, and get you moving freely again.
Soft Tissue and Myofascial Therapy
What is it?
Soft tissue and myofascial therapy are hands-on techniques that target the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia, the connective tissue web that supports and stabilizes your whole body.
Injury, overuse, stress, and poor posture can all create tight, restricted areas and adhesions in this tissue, which limit your movement and cause pain. Using focused pressure, gentle stretching, and movement, your therapist works through these layers to break down adhesions, release scar tissue, and free up the fascia so it can relax and reorganize. Unlike a general massage, this is targeted, therapeutic work aimed at the specific restrictions driving your symptoms.
What it helps
-

Muscle tightness and tension
Releasing the tight, banded tissue that builds up from training, injury, or compensation.
-

Restricted movement
Loosening the soft tissue restrictions that limit your range of motion and alter how you move.
-

Scar tissue and adhesions
Breaking down the restrictive tissue that lingers after injury or surgery.
-

Chronic and acute pain
Easing discomfort in both fresh injuries and long-standing problems.
-
Recovery and performance
Promoting blood flow and lymphatic drainage to support faster recovery, lower injury risk, and better long-term muscle and joint health.
Why we use it
-
Frees up movement
By releasing restrictions in muscle and fascia, you move more freely and comfortably, which for athletes can be the key to better performance.
-
Relieves pain and tension
Targeted hands-on work eases both the tightness you feel and the discomfort it causes.
-
Supports healing
Improved circulation and lymphatic flow help your body recover faster and more completely.
-
Makes the rest of your care work better
Freed-up tissue responds better to the exercise and movement retraining that create lasting change.
What to expect
Your therapist assesses where your tissue is restricted, then uses hands-on techniques, sustained pressure, gentle stretching, and guided movement, to work through those areas. It's targeted rather than general, so the focus is on the tissue actually driving your symptoms. Soft tissue and myofascial work is rarely used alone. It's most effective combined with the exercise and movement retraining that reinforce the gains, which is exactly how we build it into your care.
Why Atomic?
-
Built into your treatment
Manual therapy is part of our standard sessions, not a separate upsell. It's woven into your care alongside exercise and education to create lasting results.
-
Targeted, assessment-led work
We don't just rub where it hurts. We assess to find the true source of your restriction, so the hands-on work is precise and purposeful.
-
Time dedicated to you
Every session is one-on-one, so your therapist has the time to do thorough hands-on work, never rushed, never split between patients.
